Sheffield Stop Smoking Service – Coming to a street near you

NHS Sheffield’s Stop Smoking Service is taking to the streets and shopping centres of Sheffield to talk to local people about the benefits of stopping smoking.

Local people will get the chance to chat to trained smoking cessation advisors in their own neighbourhood over the next 4 weeks.

The Stop Smoking Service offers a range of locally based services to help kick the habit – the campaign aims to make more people in Sheffield aware of the service and welcome potential new quitters.

Claire Holden, Stop Smoking Service Manager said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for the service to reach out to people that may not have heard about the free advice and support that is on offer to them. The run up to Christmas is a perfect time to kick the habit as money is often tight. Come and talk to our advisers about stopping smoking – we are here to help.”

The campaign will run until the 22nd November with advisers based in a range of locations across the city, including Castle Markets, ASDA at Handsworth, Fargate, Darnall, Manor Top, Burngreave and the Sheffield Transport Interchange.

Anyone can ring free phone 0800 068 4490 for information and advice on stopping smoking (calls are answered 24 hours a day).
