| Welcome to the Sheffield
NHS Stop Smoking Service!
This is a free NHS service to support and encourage people
to stop smoking.
The service offers a range of locally based options to help people in Sheffield stop smoking in the most effective and convenient way for you. Click on the 'Help near You' button on the menu to the left to find out about services in your local community.
We offer the following to help smokers quit for good:
- One to one support. Available at Pharmacies, GP, Dental Practices and other community locations (see ‘Help near You’)
- A telephone support programme
- Stop Smoking Groups that take place across the city - Current programmes run for approximately one hour for six weeks – the people on the group will all join at the same time as you and you will all be going through the quitting process at the same time; Rolling programmes are ongoing groups where you can join at any time and all the people in the group will be at different stages of their quit programme
- For the housebound, one-to-one support at home
- By working with employers, free workplace groups
- Nicotine gum, patches and other products on prescription
- Specialist midwife service for pregnant women and their families in their homes
Research has shown that people are more successful in stopping smoking if they quit with specialist help and support. Health professionals from the Sheffield NHS Stop Smoking Service offer advice on quitting and how to cope with withdrawal and craving. There's no need to go through it by yourself - expert advisors and nicotine gum and patches are available to help you.
