The
Sheffield NHS Stop Smoking Service has taken
to the road this summer to help Sheffield
smokers quit.
At the new roadshow
smokers are able to book onto a quit programme
straight away, and get advice and information
from Stop Smoking Advisors.
Smokers still have
the opportunity to visit the roadshow on
The Moor on 26th August, the Sheffield Fayre
on 29th August and Ecclesfield Gala on 5th
September.
Malcolm Simpson of
the Sheffield NHS Stop Smoking Service said:
“ Some people still aren’t aware
of the free professional support available
to help them quit. The roadshow is a great
way of raising awareness of the service
and making people feel confident that support
is available to help them quit. If they
want to join a quit programme they can discuss,
face to face, the venue that best suits
them.”
Sheffield NHS Stop
Smoking Service provides very effective
support, provided by specially trained NHS
professionals to smokers who want to quit.
One of the many programmes available is
nicotine replacement products, such as patches,
on prescription.
More than half the
smokers who commence a quit programme with
the NHS Stop Smoking Service become successful
quitters, compared to the very low percentage
of smokers who quit by themselves.
